Pennywise the Dancing Clown

Description:
A charcoal portrait of Pennywise the Dancing Clown, completed on 08.30.18.
Reflection:
I had made this without a plan, so working on it was a challenge. However, it taught me ways to improvise in a piece. I used a combination of charcoal pencils, some pens (both white and black), and a few colored pencils. The reference photo was obtained via Pinterest.
Looking back at this now, I am still proud. I see things I would fix or do differently, but that’s true of all my work. I am still impressed with the clothing as I had never done that before, and I still think it looks good.
You can tell that I was too afraid to push the values as dark as they needed to go. Hence, the dark line around the face and nowhere else is there an area that gets close to being that dark.
But this was my early work, as I continued to get comfortable with the medium, I wasn’t afraid to push my work further.
Time Spent:
15-20 hours
Materials:
Graphite, charcoal pencils, pen, colored pencil, small eraser, and kneaded eraser.
